The first episode of "Itaewon Class" begins with Park Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo-joon) as a high school student who stands up to a bully who happens to be the son of Jang Dae-hee (Yoo Jae-myung), the CEO of Jangga Co., a large food corporation. Despite being warned by his father, Park Sae-ro-yi refuses to back down and ends up getting expelled from school.
Later, Park Sae-ro-yi and his father go to a Jangga Co. pub to celebrate his expulsion being finalized, but a fight breaks out after the son of Jang Dae-hee insults Park Sae-ro-yi's father. Jang Dae-hee arrives and offers a bribe to Park Sae-ro-yi's father, but Park Sae-ro-yi rejects the offer and leaves with his father. However, on the way home, they are hit by Jang Dae-hee's car, which kills Park Sae-ro-yi's father.
After serving three years in prison for assaulting Jang Dae-hee's son, Park Sae-ro-yi heads to Itaewon, a multicultural district in Seoul, to start a new life. He meets Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi), a genius sociopath with a sharp wit and charm, who helps him navigate the business world. While at a club with Jo Yi-seo, Park Sae-ro-yi sees Yoon Se-ri (Bomi), a famous actress, and becomes intrigued by her.
The next day, Park Sae-ro-yi visits the Jangga Co. building and confronts Jang Dae-hee about his father's death, but Jang Dae-hee brushes him off. Park Sae-ro-yi then decides to open a bar-restaurant named DanBam (Sweet Night) in Itaewon, where he plans to take revenge against Jang Dae-hee by becoming more successful than him. However, he faces many challenges, including obtaining investors and competing with established restaurants in the area.
Meanwhile, Soo-ah (Kwon Na-ra), a former classmate and first love interest of Park Sae-ro-yi, becomes an employee at Jangga Co. and struggles with her loyalty to the company and her feelings for Park Sae-ro-yi. Jo Yi-seo, who is intrigued by Park Sae-ro-yi's personality and ambition, decides to join DanBam as a manager to help him achieve his goals.
The first episode sets up the story and introduces the main characters, highlighting their motivations, desires, and struggles. The show touches on themes of discrimination, prejudice, and the power of perseverance in achieving one's dreams. It sets the stage for the rest of the series and leaves the audience curious and excited about what's to come.
